What are Page Titles?
Think of Page Titles as the headlines for your blog posts. Your blog posts will focus on the information identified in the Page Title, especially the keyword. You’ll see the keyword in a column just to the left of the list of page titles prepared for you. Each Page Title has a keyword linked to it. Because of our custom-content approach, your page titles are created only for you using the survey and keywords specific to your company. We ask you to approve Page Titles before we begin writing blog posts so that you are aware of and can approve in advance the ideas for the content you’ll be receiving.

Can I change the Page Titles and if so, how?
Yes. You can change the Page Titles when a batch of titles is sent to you for approval. You’ll see the word “Edit” in blue and once you click on “Edit” the screen will open and allow you to reword the Title. Be sure to click “Save” once you’ve adjusted the title. And please be aware that significantly changing the title can remove the keyword and can make the writer’s instructions for the piece seem confusing. If you feel that you want to change the meaning of the Title significantly, it’s probably better to delete the original Title and leave a note in the note screen at the bottom of the Title Approval screen so that a new Title can be prepared.

Can I give input into the Page Titles?
Absolutely! To the right of the page title, there is a column “Page Specific Isntructions” and an icon next to the title. Click on this icon to add any specific requests you have for that particular post. For example, is there something you want us to specifically mention (or stay away from)? Or is there a link you would like us to link to in the article? Add your notes here. Adding notes in the Page Specific Instructions helps the writer get a more detailed idea of what you expect the final post to look like.

What do I need to know about Keywords?
Keywords help customers find you on Google and through other search engines. We prepare a set of keywords for you based on your survey to reflect the services and products you offer. We also use a number of keywords that reflect broad searches that potential customers might be using, such as “choosing a heating and cooling contractor.”

What’s the reason for posting two blogs a week?
Fresh, unique content that is constantly added to your site and that appears on social media sites linked to your company is key to search engine optimization. It also tells potential customers who visit your site that you are an expert in the industry who shares advice and industry trends. The expert blog content further positions you as the local expert in your field.

Why does my blog site need to be linked to my main website?
Why not? Our posts help generate traffic and each post has at least one hyperlink to your main website. The purpose is to bring new customers to your site through content that is engaging, smart and topical. Once you’ve made an impression on a potential customer by answering a question the customer was asking through an online search, you’ve got a perfect opportunity to show the customer what your company has to offer. This is also a key component for building your search engine rankings.

Why does my home website need linked to my blog site?
Just like we drive traffic from the blog to your company website, reciprocal linking strengthens the program for search indexing. Most company websites don’t update the pages of their site but with the blog posts linked and fed into your website, it’s like adding fresh content to your company website too. Search engines favor this and it will help boost your company website rankings in search.

What is Search Engine Optimization and why is it important to me?
Search Engine Optimization means employing the best strategies to optimize your chances of ranking high on a search engine site. Statistics show that online readers are most likely to click on the top three search responses that appear in a Google search. We want you to be right up there in search, and fresh, relevant content through the use of keywords, geographic terms and other strategies is the way to rise to the top of search.

How does a blog increase my company’s presence on internet searches for HVAC information?
Blogging puts fresh, relevant content on your site and on social networking sites tied to your company on a regular basis, which helps online readers find you in search.

Can I have videos on my blog?
We don’t embed videos into blog posts, but we can help you place a YouTube button on your main website and blog site so that online readers can get to a YouTube link that features your videos.

Can I put images in my blog posts?
Yes – if you have any images you would like added to your posts, send them our way. If they should be loaded with a particular post, just let us know. In the future, we will be adding stock photography to your posts as well.

How do I edit the blog you send me for approval?
We want you to have as much involvement as you wish in fine-tuning the blog posts. We have a tutorial (LINK TO TUTORIAL) on the mechanics of editing the posts. You’ll get an email each time a file has been written and editing that will inform you that you have content to review. Click on the link to the blog post and you’ll see a screen that allows you to review and make changes to the post. You’ll also have the option of sending the blog post back for revisions.

Why do you ask me to rate the writer of the blog?
Our goal is to produce the best possible writing for our clients and we ask you to rate the writers so we can constantly track the quality of the posts themselves.

Can I submit ideas for blogs and if so, how?
Yes. We encourage you to offer ideas so that the blog best reflects your perspective. You’ll be provided with contact information for the project managers and the editorial team at the time of your kickoff call. Contact us directly with any content questions at any time. Or send a message through the “feedback” section of the Title Approval screen to let us know what you’d like to see in future blogs.

How will I know if all this blogging is actually working?
We track the traffic on the blog sites and we track the activity that happens once a reader clicks on a blog article. It takes a little time for readers to find the blog entries, but we find that measurable results are available about six months after a blog site launches. We’ll provide statistics about every six months with details of the traffic.

Why should I blog about services or products our company does not provide?
Blogging about lots of different topics shows a customer that you’re an established source of expert advice. Our goal is to further position you as an expert in the field, and two blog posts per week give us plenty of opportunities to answer questions that potential customers may have. We’re trying to target the kinds of questions, products and services that a potential customer may be searching for online. So by casting a wide net through blog posts on a variety of HVAC topics, you’ve got the potential to draw in more prospective customers.

I don’t use Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Am I going to have to spend a lot of time dealing with those accounts?
The purpose of our program is to provide quality content. When we create your blog site, we take the time to create links to other social networking sites as a way to boost search engine optimization and provide more ways to potential customers to find you online. Without taking any action at all, your blog site, Facebook company page, Twitter account and LinkedIn profile will get continuous content. If someone comments on or asks a question about a post online, you’ll get an email notification and we hope you’ll take the time to review the comment or respond to the post. But you won’t have to check the accounts constantly if you don’t have the time. You should receive an e-mail notification when action needs to be taken. We do encourage you to add company photos or further personalize the accounts if you have the time or as you become more familiar with the sites. Perhaps there’s someone in your office who will take an interest in adding more to the social media sites. But the sites we set up will be kept current with fresh blog content even without your involvement.

How do people find these blogs?
Online searches on blog topics will get most of the readers to your blog site. Once readers find your blog site, we hope the engaging titles will keep them online and prompt them to keep clicking on topics. You can drive traffic to the blog site by mentioning your blog address in print articles and on company materials, such as invoices and e-newsletters. When we launch your blog site, we’ll work with your own website developer to add a “blog” button to your main website that will allow readers to easily click on a link to your blog site.

Do you use these articles again?
We don’t use the articles we’ve written for you again, but we bet you will. Each article is written specifically for each client. We may use a subject, such as preventive maintenance, again and again, but each time the article is written from scratch. We use an online tool to ensure that it’s unique content, too. But the content we produce is yours to keep and reuse as often as you like for e-newsletters and print materials or any purpose that suits your need. Because of the relatively “evergreen” nature of our blog posts, you can save the articles for later use and know that the older blog posts can be found online and used to draw customers indefinitely.
