Now that we have been able to see SocialTract customers in action with their blogs, it’s easier to see what differentiates the ones who are successful blogging versus the ones who are still struggling a bit. In no particular order, here are seven strategies/tactics that separate the “haves” from the “have nots”.
Promote the blog on their website. Almost a no-brainer, some contractors forget to let website visitors know they have a blog. Make sure, at minimum, you put blog on your website navigation.
Include the blog URL address on your email signature line. If you communicate with customers through email, make sure whoever is sending the email at least includes the URL address on the signature line. Believe it or not, your customers read those. Make sure all your employees are promoting your blog in their signature lines.
Put the blog address on your business card. Yes, it means something that you are blogging.
Write a press release and include your blog. Developing great content for your customers is a great reason to send out a release. And also, you get some great links back to your blog out of the effort (which helps your search engine optimization efforts).
Integrate with traditional advertising. For example, do you invest in local radio spots? If so, let people know they can find you on your blog, Twitter and Facebook. A contractor that can be found through those tactics is perceived as being a leader and on the cutting edge.
Fliers? Yes. If you are still using fliers, be sure to put your blog address out there for people to see.
Use Twitter hashtags. Not only does SocialTract customer Conditioned Air listen and respond to customers via Twitter, they use hashtags to promote their blogs in logical places. A hashtag (using the number sign – # – on Twitter) is a search technique used for people to track certain topics. In this tweet from Conditioned Air, they use the tag #naples for anyone listening/watching for news in the Naples, Florida area.
Of course, these strategies are just the tip of the iceberg. The point for blog promotion is that the majority of it just needs to be integrated in what you already do. You don’t have to create the new wheel. Just look at what you are already doing as part of your normal marketing and let people know that you are blogging.
Since you are investing in creating some of the best home comfort content on the planet, make sure that your customers can find it.
